Belgrade or Beograd is the capital and the largest city of Serbia. Serbia used to be one of the six republics that made up the country of former Yugoslavia. The native name of Serbia is Srbija. The city of Belgrade is located between the Sava and the Danube rivers. It is one of the oldest cities of Europe where archeologists found tracing settlements as early as 5th millennium BC. The city was discovered by the Greeks and was founded and named by the Celts as Belgrade, meaning "White City", as it is known up this day.

Belgrade had encountered more than 40 wars since it was founded and it was established for over 38 times from ashes by different settlers.
